So, I'm learning Japanese now... I have my reasons for it, and since I already know a little, I thought, 'why not try and learn it all?' It's not easy, though... Japanese has over 40,000 kanji characters, along with over 100 letters in both the hiragana and katakana alphabets.
Hiragana is used by the Japanese for words that are found in Japanese. Katakana is the different style of writing the same sounds, but it is only used for foreign words (such as names, places, signs, and more recently, computer terminology). Here's a small example:
私の なまいいは さやこです。 This says, "My name is Sayako"... it's all hiragana, except the blue writing, which is the kanji character for "I/my". Sayako is one of my best friends, she lives in Japan! :)
私の なまいいは キミです。This says, "My name is Kimmy". Here, there is kanji, hiragana, and also katakana in orange, since my name is considered foreign in Japan.

頑張ってね。
In case you're wondering what the hiragana is it's:
がんばってね。
It means "Keep going! Go for it!"
Trust me kimmy, the Hiragana and Katakana can be memorized in about a month if you do a little each day. check out http://www.dragonmedia.us/programs/kana.php?login=JA2342segsr4545swfde_243s for a REALLY good drill program. Give you an idea... I can do 100 with no errors (using the whole kana chart) in 3:00 (That's typing and pressing enter). Try to challenge yourself to get better and better times... my katakana time was about the same, but with 13 mistakes...grrr... You can also turn off all the columns except the ones you're working on at the time.
Great! Now you can really bug me with your countless sayings in Japanese!
by the way...
in 私の名前はキミーです。
名前 is なまえ not なまいい
なまいい doesn't make sense. It sounds like "raw" "good" or something like that. "My Raw good is Kimmy"
